Sushi Roku—the style-over-substance sushi empire chowhounds love to hate. This, the third of four locations, boasts a prime locale in the heart of Old Town Pasadena, as well as the to-be-expected design palate—sleek and modern, done up in black, gray and bamboo. The menu offers Cal-Asian sushi at its most predictable but even skeptics admit that the fish itself can be wonderfully fresh and the tiny crabs boiled in hot oil begrudingly earned the Jonathan Gold seal of approval.
