Best Fish Taco in Ensenada
The extreme pronouncements don't end with the name at this Los Feliz taco shack. There are only three items on the menu: fish tacos for a buck-fifty, shrimp tacos for two and drinks for a buck. Each taco is served one at a time to maximize "bestness" of the Ensenada-style treat while the counter keeps a running "tab". More control freakiness dictates the no-takeout policy—the tacos should be eaten immediately, says management—so grab a patio table or stand by the taller ones inside. There's no phone number, no absolute hours of operation and no guarantee that the kitchen won't run out of tacos before the (loose) 8 p.m. closing time. But people have followed the cult in droves, even finding that while the perfectly-crisp fish taco does indeed live up to the name, the shrimp version is even better.
