Such a disapointment

My first visit was to grab a drink before a movie. I opted for the so called, signature 'Pink Taco Margarita', it was terrible. Too sweet, too small and not enough alcohol. Second visit was again, before a movie. This time around lunch was in order as my girlfriend and I had never eaten here. Service was borderline laughable, food was in fact laughable, (Baja Fresh grade for El Cholo + prices) almost tasteless, over seasoned and small portions but it was eatable. I tried a different margarita with a 'double shot', this turned out to be the worst drink I have ever had in the history of my drinking career (7 years). To top it off the extra shot cost and additional $8.50!

Bottom line, this place blows.

Note to Harry Morton: Fail.

Pink Taco -- Good Food, LOUD Music
By WestsideFOTO from WestsideFOTO, July 2, 2008

I can say a lot of good things about Pink Taco in Century City. Unfortunately, all of those good points are undermined by a fundamental flaw in the restaurant's concept.

The good: Location, layout (including an outdoor patio), decor, and food are all amazing. I've had the lobster enchiladas twice. Excellent. Refreshing, new & unique menu items and a fun/kitschy decor.

The bad: The NOISE. "Alternative rock" music plays at dance club volume. The experience is like having dinner in the middle of a dance floor. We had to literally shout our orders to our server and he had to shout them back at us to confirm he got them right. One-on-one conversation is very difficult -- unless you can read lips. Group conversation would be impossible without lots of shouting.

Pink Taco should decide if it wants to be a restaurant or a dance club -- it's ridiculous to try to be both at the same time. If the music volume were maybe 1/10th of the current level, Pink Taco would be a real winner.

Pink Taco is more hype than great food

I was super excited to try Pink Taco when I heard it was opening at Century City but when I finally got there I was totally disappointed. We went to the bar for drinks and apps while we waited for the table and the bartender's annoyance with our non-alcoholic drink orders was more than conveyed. I will say the chips and guacamole were fabulous as were the other appetizers but the service was not great. We had a great table and that atmosphere is really cool and fun but our service at our table was equally bad. When our food finally came non of us were happy. The food was way too salty, almost hard to eat, and the rice and beans were horrible. How can you be a mexican restaurant and not master rice and beans?

I would say it is worth trying if not for the chips, salsa and atmosphere, but don't expect a great meal.
