Seed is a welcome addition to Venice, even though I had a soft spot for the divey late-night Mexican place that preceded it in the space (La Fiesta, R.I.P.). The macrobiotic Seed is totally on the other end of the spectrum. I join the other reviewer here in recommending the tempeh burger... it's a tad pricey for those on a fast food budget (the five... five dollar... five dollar footlong shop looms next door) but it's a memorable dish that's heartier than expected. Haven't had a bad dish yet. This is the kind of place that can make a lifelong carnivore and decadent diner think "Hmm, maybe I COULD get used to eating like Jennifer Aniston!" Very friendly and helpful service as well.

Got sent here for a food review for another publication and loved it to pieces. Chef Eric is formerly of M Cafe de Chaya on Melrose and has been a personal chef to the health-nutty stars in H'wood...but it's his relationship with his wife that made this place what it is. See, she had cancer, and after watching her recover with the aid of a macrobiotic diet, Eric decided to fuse his classical Continental cuisine with Japanese ingredients & macrobiotic preparations. It's the kind of food you feel GOOD about scarfing down. I recommend the bbq tempeh burger, donburi bowl and fabulous vegan cupcakes.
