This DUMBO pizzeria run is Louis Tremini, a Bensonhurst-born pizzaiolo who's whipping up what he's calling "Brooklyn American-style" pies made with recipes handed down by his Sicilian grandmother. He's got some cred: Tremini owned the Luna Pizza chain in Connecticut before selling the biz and hightailing it back to Brooklyn. Pies come is two versions: your standard thin-crust slices with toppings like meatballs and seaweed (?!), plus airy Sicilian pies that can be ordered—get this—with our without mint leaves. And if you're wondering why Ignazio's has an octopus in its logo, they're planning to eventually serve a signature seafood pie called the Iggy. Interesting tidbit: The restaurant searched high and wide for a supplier of Manhattan Special, an obscure espresso soda that Tremini was dead-set on serving. They found the manufacturer, in Greenpoint, and now you can have some fizz with your buzz.
