Peanut Butter Cup with Peanut Brittle, Caramel Gelee and Caramel Gelato @ Craft
We’ve seen several variations of the choco-PB union around the city—Hatfield’s truffle cake, Rustic Canyon’s tart with candied peanuts—and we’ve loved them all. But we have to give major props to pastry chef Catherine Schimenti, who makes no bones about the source of her inspiration. The circle of rich chocolate could even pass as the more sophisticated, high-ticket ($12) city cousin to Reese’s. The accompanying brittle and gelato are quite nice, but it’s the balancing sprinkle of fleur de sel that makes us feel like we’re playing with the culinary big boys.
