The much anticipated collaboration between SBE and chef-luminary Michael Mina opened the 14th of October with lavish fanfare. A play on Mina's fourteenth restaurant endeavor and inspired by the devil-may-care extravagance of Louis Catorze, XIV will likely be L.A.'s most decadent new opening for a long, economy-limping while. SBE's go-to designer Philippe Starck once again lent his whimsical hand, creating the library interior of an 18th-century chateau decked out in chandeliers and chaises and tons of honest-to-goodness books.
