Gnocchi d'ortica al burro e salvia
Credit:Alex Lampila
Straightforward translation—“nettle gnocchi in butter and sage”—just doesn’t do justice. “Pillows of heaven” is more like it. Sure, gnocchi is a little heavy for summer. But nettle imparts an appealing grassiness—and we think that counts as green veggies! Like Melograno’s house-made pasta, the roly-poly dumplings are perfectly al dente, deftly cooked to a firm chew that you’d never get with the mushy stuff from the Trader Joe’s freezer. Dressed simply in butter and sage, the gnocchi is so gorgeous on its own, we’d bet it’s even better naked.
