Mouthful of tofu: 12th Annual L.A. Tofu Festival
August 18, 2007
In scorching 90-degree heat, nothing goes down so refreshingly as...tofu? That question may best be left to the brave (read, seriously troubled) contestants who devoured two blocks of the festival honoree. The yearly homage to this most neutral and nutritious of food source has come and gone but not before kicking off the rest of the nine-day Nisei Week festivities with plenty of tongue-in-cheek amusement, great food, pageantry and a supremely kick-ass nebuta float–which is holding court in the next gallery over.
