Paris Baguette
The cake: French pastries done with Asian flair produce a particularly deceptive lightness that masks the full weight of all the butter involved. This holds true for Paris Baguette, an international Korean chain (with two Koreatown locations) which daily churns out breads and breakfast pastries, along with an impressive stock of ready-to-go cakes. Signature flavors like blueberry and mocha chiffon are known (and favored) for not being cloyingly sweet. The truly fusion green-tea chiffon also incorporates whole black beans—we promise, it’s delicious.
The price: Depending on flavor, $28-$32 for 8-inch cakes.
The extras: You get candles, a big plastic cutting knife and even two matches—talk about full service.
If you have more time: Individual slices of each flavor are always an option, so you can have a taste test to find your favorite.
