Nothing he wouldn't eat
How did you get your start in extreme eating?
My mom. I was 6, and she cooked pig’s brain for lunch one afternoon for my brother and me. It took us two hours through tears, tears, to finish that. We couldn’t leave the table or else she wouldn’t let us watch "Speed Racer" ever again.
What do you find so appealing about extreme eating?
It’s kind of a way to explore other cultures through your stomach without traveling too much, so to me it’s like mini vacations, mini adventures. And usually it tastes good.
What is the most extreme thing you ever ate?
A whole live octopus.
What is your favorite boring dish?
Just plain-old fried chicken.
What is a typical meal for you?
Rice, steamed vegetables, some kind of stewed meat or fish. Souplantation. Simple and healthy.
Is there anything that is off-limits?
Generally, anything that’s endangered—unless it tastes really good.
