In a cabana
Location: Whist, poolside.
Seats: 10.
Features: Roundtop with white linens, fine china and tapers in one of three sailcloth-draped dining cabanas; tall lattice-back chairs—sorry, the plush Chippendale seats stay put inside and closer to the dining room.
Source: Much like the whole of the Viceroy, tables and chairs also have the touch of Kelly Wearstler.
Special-occasion dining: $500 food and beverage minimum for Sun.-Wed.; $1000 Thurs.-Sat.—um, that should get a herd of Chef Warren Schwartz's acclaimed elk.
Corkage fee: Must be a label that is not on the restaurant's wine list. $25 per bottle; fee doubles with fourth bottle.
Cutting fee for BYO birthday cake: $3.50 per person.
Extras: Reserving a dining cabana is more cost-efficient than one of the coffee-table-and-lounge-outfitted cabanas, the minimum buyout for which begins at $600, for weekday usage of the smaller unit. (Yep, it blows our mind too.)
