Known for its 100% organic coffee, Groundwork started in Venice and has since added five more locations around Los Angeles. The independent chain roasts its own beans and was one of the first certified organic roasters in Southern California. Along with organic beans, Groundwork also offers fair trade, shade grown, single origin and blended varieties. Each location attracts its own Starbucks-shunning coterie of customers who come in for drip coffee, espresso drinks, pastries and sandwiches (not available at all stores). This location is just off the Venice Boardwalk, making for choice people watching at the outdoor tables.
