The La Cienega institution Gaylord has undergone a metamorphosis. It's now a jewel of modern Indian cuisine. Just a few weeks old, Tanzore is serving up amazing modern Indian cuisine in a posh setting that is sure to turn the heads of even the most stubborn foodies—even if it is on slicked-out Restaurant Row, of all places.

Dish: Everything about Tanzore breathes balance and synergy, from the creamy lemon stilton and champagne to the hot chocolate cake made of Valrhona paired with a blood orange reduction. The Tandoori sea bass was cooked and seasoned to perfection. The extensive wine selection was hand picked by the owners to perfectly compliment a spicy Indian meal.

Bar: The electric-blue lounge dominates the entrance of Tanzore, with low, comfy seats and Bollywood classics projected on an adjacent wall. The lack of barstools encourages you to walk around and mingle. Or grab a drink, share an appetizer with friends and chill.

Sounds: Downtempo Indian-inspired beats permeate the restaurant, lulling you into a relaxed and stylish recline on the  comfortable seats. Makes you want to slowly sip your drink and make bedroom eyes across the room.

Verdict: Haven’t taken a date to Restaurant Row since hitting up Lawry’s before your high-school formal? Tanzore’s gorgeous, moody interior is more than date-appropriate; it’ll put anyone in a state of nirvana.
