Commence rolling in thy grave. This morsel of the Peanut Bubba from the Griddle Cafe is one cubic inch of sugary, carby, peanut-buttery love: lush French bread crusted in a sweet peanut-butter crunch and grilled to a beautiful, golden crisp. It's served with plenty of whipped cream and an entire bottle of premium maple syrup. (It's 100 percent dark amber, grade A, from Vermont; "Miss Griddle" only gives us the best.)
The secret? Crushed Nutter Butter cookies. Sad to say it, but the protein value is negligible. And a handy carb counter tells us that this single forkful is pretty much our entire allowance of carbs for the day. Too bad we’ve got 15 more pieces before we finish the thing. But we'll eat it all, because after assiduously removing all grains and flours from our pantry, we have come to a certain realization in the dawn’s early light—that bread is deliciously good.
Carboliciously yours,
Metromix
