Chances are you've already sampled the breads that made "artisanal" a legitimate food category. Before Nancy Silverton became a Mozza-tour-de-force, there was La Brea Bakery, the rustic (better) half to Campanile. The master may have gone on to craft pizza and mozzarella, but the quaint, corner storefront still offers crusty, airy, yeasty works of culinary art.
