Cafe Mundial: User Reviews
Cafe Mundial

My now-husband and I had our first date at Cafe Mundial back in 2003. Although the restaurant was sold by Travis, the new owner has kept the same menu and the service is still excellent. My favorite entrees are the Paella and Seared Ahi. All entrees come with soup or salad - a rarity at any fine dining establishment. Dinner for two, including two drinks, a shared dessert and the tip comes to under $100.
The wine list is decent, and you MUST try the Souffle - be sure to order this at the same time you order dinner. We go to this restaurant every couple of months and are always pleased with the value.
We had our wedding and lunch reception here in 2005. Most of our 50 guests came from West LA, La Jolla, Las Vegas, and South Orange County, and everyone raved about the food. It was a tough crowd to impress, but Cafe Mundial did indeed go above and beyond.

The atmosphere is the only great aspect of this restaurant. The food is egregious and the service is absurdly slow. If you like the smell of smoke, than come to this place....otherwise, ignore this eminent disaster.

I recently went to dinner at Mundail on a Sunday nite. First, we had a rsvp by the window and they didn't save it. Second, they forgot to bring our bread. Third, the food was very bland. Fourth, when they did bring the bread, it was left-overs (per the waiter), they brought fresh later. Fifth, the hummas was runny. Sixth, the party in another room lit up a cigarette and filled the restaurant with smoke. Seventh, it took forever to get a check to get into the Calif fresh air to breath. What a bad experience. I will never go back.
