this is the best new restaurant in los angeles. if you don't have enough coin for a full meal, eat beforehand and just go for the foie gras cotton candy and a philly cheese steak. don't forget to at least try one exploding item, be it a cherry in the liquid cherry manhattan, or a ball of mozzarella in the caprese, it's worth it!

Had my second experience at the Bazaar recently and came away quite pleased both times. It's a food playground for adults/Top Chef fans, where you can get foie gras lollipops wrapped in cotton candy and where the chefs experiment with liquid nitrogen and molecular gastronomy. Highlights include a "Philly cheesesteak" made with "air bread" and a deliciously gooey combination of cheese and Wagyu beef. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and will help you find the right pace and volume of dishes being brought to your table. Cocktails, dessert, decor... everything comes together in an original fashion. Be prepared to spend a fair chunk of cash, though, and don't bring anyone with especially hearty appetites - the tapas-style portions can be small to the point of parody (order the paella if you need a little more substance). As my companions pointed out, the Bazaar very well may wind up feeling "sooo LA in 2009"... but, hey, it *is* LA in 2009. Surrender and enjoy.
