Total Rip Off!

We ate at the Tower Bar on Saturday (3/8/08) and were extremely disappointed. It had been a year or two since we last went there, after service was terrible on two different occasions. We'd hoped things had changed, but alas no. Despite being told it was a special occasion during the reservation process, we ended up at an "added" table that was clearly not part of the floor plan. Had anyone in our party been the slightest bit overweight, we wouldn't have even fit into the cramped (and weird) space. Things got worse as we waited 20 minutes for someone (anyone!) to come by and take a drink order. Our waiter (who finally made an appearance around minute 30) was clearly flustered and not on top of his game. We had to ask for several things twice and never had simple things like refilling of water glasses or pouring of wine taken care of. Add to that, the food was less than pedestrian and quite salty. The crab lump's special ingredient was Dijon mustard, which clearly didn't enhance anything. The steak salad entree had stale "sugar coated walnuts" and the short ribs were overcooked and (tasted like they'd been) soaked in salt. All at prices that are ridiculous given the quality (or lack thereof) of the food. The room itself? Beautiful. The pianist and guitarist? Grand. The service, food and rest of the bunch? Horrific. Run, don't walk, as fast as you can from this wallet/tourist trap on the Sunset Strip. What a waste of time, energy, money and special occasion.

What a disorganized restaurant. Made reservation 3 weeks prior for a birthday party of 8. The host called an few hours before staying he could not accommodated us until an hour later. Finale he agreed to seat us on time. We got there and did not get seated until a hour later. No apologizes were made or comps or even good services. The host Demetri ignored us all night.

Into the Heart of Darkness

I'll admit, i was a little scared when i sashayed to the lobby of the Sunset Tower Hotel, it was just so dark! It made me think of all those old, smelly bars in the movies. We were seated after some trouble getting a table and eager to begin our meal. The staff noticed our needs and quickly brought out an appetizer on the house! Cherries pitted filled with mascarpone cheese!! They were fantastic, and believe me, everything that followed couldn't have been better. My views towards dark places have changed for the better.
