An unlikely gem between Echo Park and Koreatown, this bakery may well be baking the best bagels on the West Coast. The “Everything” bagels really do seem to have everything, the blueberry bagels are perfection, and the pumpernickel has an amazing flavor we’ve rarely seen elsewhere. True to their name, the bakery sells a New York-style variety that’s hearth-baked, rather than pan-baked. The result is dense and chewy, just how traditionalists like them. Weekdays between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. is Bagel Happy Hour, where everything is half-off. Eight freshly baked, delicious bagels for $3 may be one of the best deals in the city.
