The original K Chocolatier was founded in 1973 by Diane and Tom Krön under the name Krön Chocolatier in N.Y.C., where Tom (the website claims) created the chocolate-covered strawberry. Though the couple eventually sold the company, Diane has been in L.A. since 2000, making a new line of gourmet chocolates from the original recipes based off the creations of Tom’s great grandfather, who was the chocolate-maker to Emperor Franz Josef of Austro-Hungary. This über gourmet chocolate shop to the stars is known for their little K Bears—crisped rice teddy bears in milk, dark or white chocolate—as well as truffles filled with premium-quality vodka. This shop may be on the pricey end but just imagine the boasting rights when you say your chocolate palate is fit for a king.
