Husband and wife David and Molly Anderson both have major "veg cred": he was sous chef at Inn of the Seventh Ray before helming the kitchen at Real Food Daily, she was RFD's general manager. They bring their vegan commitments to the mean street of Ventura Blvd. with an innovative menu that preach to more than the converted. Feast on—no, it's not an ironic statement—homey comfort foods with a twist of vegetable sophistication like beignets, mac & cheese, tamales, omelettes, "chicken" and waffles. Whatever you do, get the signature "beet tartare"—and leave room for dessert.
