I have been but am not now a practicing vegan. I do, however, appreciate vegan cuisine when skillfully prepared. It has taken me a couple of visits to work my way through the menu. Now that I've sampled almost everything I can safely say that I CRAVE this food. It would be pointless to single out any one dish because I have yet to eat anything that was less than delightful. If anyone is under the misconception that raw food is only for the crunchy granola, politically correct Venice Beach crowd, I urge you to try CRU because it will dispel that falsehood with a single bite. The food is quite simply an experience not to be missed by anyone who enjoys good nutritious food. This is a gem of a restaurant and its focus in on the food. Bring your patience as well as your appetite because the service will be slow when the restaurant is crowded. But it is well worth the wait.
