Horrible Service, Shoddy Workmanship

I paid Sunset Orange $1000 to reupholster my mid-century modern sofa. They are in Silverlake and I am in Echo Park -- hilly areas where many if not most houses involve some sort of stairs.

When they came to pick up the couch, they bitched and moaned about my single flight of stairs -- never having asked if I had stairs, nor simply telling me there would be a delivery fee and proceeding like professionals. Instead they came into my home, *kicked my 12-year-old dog* in front of my husband and complained like two year olds all the while. They then called me at work to berate me for not having "warned" them there might be stairs in a neighborhood made up entirely of steep hills.

When they brought the sofa back, they left it at the top of the stairs, refusing to bring it back down -- not for a delivery fee, not for any reason, how dare I have stairs in Echo Park. It was ridiculous.

The cherry on top? Within a month, a button came off the couch (keep in mind that no buttons had ever fallen off of it in its 50-year-life before I had it reupholstered by these people), and they refused to fix their own shoddy workmanship.

I have never had such an unpleasant experience with service professionals -- I'm no prima donna, and I was actually very nice and accommodating about the Great Stair Fiasco of '07, but I'm sorry, when you refuse to fix your own poor work, you don't deserve my business or anyone else's."
