In the future, summer 2007 will be remembered for many things—Britney’s wigs, Paris’ jail term and Nicole’s DUI, for starters—but what about fashion? From the rehabs of Malibu to the streets of London, we bring you our picks for the Celebrity Summer Style Hall of Fame 2007.

Classic red lipstick—again

Crimson lips are never really out of fashion, but thanks to Gwen Stefani, Scarlett Johansson, Dita Von Teese and Christina Aguilera, classic red lipstick in matte, vintage hues has been ever-present this summer. You don’t have to have pencil-perfect eyebrows and peroxide hair to pull off this look—just make sure your skin is creamy pale and summon your inner Paloma Picasso to help you build a steady application hand. (Tip: Matte is way easier to wear than gloss, which smears very easily.) Try MAC Russian Red.

The platinum crop

British Armani model Agyness Deyn (pronounced Agnes Deen), touted as ”the new Kate Moss,” is also responsible for bringing back the punky crop. Deyn, 21, muse of über-photographer Steven Meisel, sparked a craze for short peroxide hair in England, which is slowly but surely making its way across the pond. Don’t worry, the gamine, androgynous look isn’t exactly a “Top Gun” Iceman buzz—it’s more a mix of “Papa Don’t Preach” Madonna, pre-rehab Selma Blair and Doris Day coyness. For the full London look, we recommend teaming your crop with an Inspector Clouseau-style Trilby hat, neon skinny jeans, suspenders, Nike high tops and a slogan T-shirt by London designer Henry Holland (who just so happens to be Agyness Deyn's best friend).

Bright colors

Dresses in bold, jewel-inspired colors (think amethyst, amber and sapphire) have been surfacing this summer, alongside a cheerful new tropical palette filled with bright citrus and coral hues. The very brave have been trying zesty orange on for size; although it’s a tough color to pull off (Jessica Simpson resembled a large carrot when photographed in an orange Nui jersey dress recently), when done right, it can look amazing. Channel Chloë Sevigny at the “Big Love” premiere in L.A.: She teamed her vibrant, apricot-hued Prada dress with a salmon-pink clutch and elegant up-do. And being Chloë, of course she got away with it.

Rompers and jumpsuits

Was it Paris and her government-issued jumpsuit that accelerated the trend? Who knows. But there’s no doubt that celebrities have gone crazy for onesies this summer. Heidi Klum and J. Lo demonstrated two very different approaches to the look at the recent launch of Lorraine Schwartz's Diamond Monkey Collection. Heidi went for a knee-length black silk jumpsuit, while J. Lo kept things so fresh and so clean in her white shorts romper, teamed with über-glam hair and barely-there make up. You may have mixed feelings about this out-there trend, but when worn appropriately (preferably with toned thighs and minimal accessories), this easy, all-in-one approach can be a chic and sophisticated get-up.

White-framed Wayfarers

White-framed vintage Wayfarers have been nothing short of ubiquitous this summer, in line with a new found love for all things 80's. Remember Don Henley's "Boys of Summer" (You got that hair slicked back and/Those Wayfarers on, baby) from 1984. Well Ray-Ban Wayfarers have actually been around since 1952, and were beloved by Marilyn Monroe, Andy Warhol, and Bob Dylan before falling out of fashion. Then in 1981 they resurfaced after Tom Cruise wore a pair in "Risky Business", with Madonna, Jack Nicholson and Anna Wintour following suit. Then they disappeared again...until Chloë Sevigny was spotted in a pair earlier this year. Mary Kate and Ashley, Drew Barrymore, Kirsten Dunst and Lily Allen have all been seen stepping out in this New Wave-inspired look. And Sienna Miller, ever the envelope pusher, was recently spotted in—gasp!—a red-framed pair. An added selling point for celebs: The light-colored frames perfectly enhance spray-on tans, and the comfortable Nylon material allows for maximum flexibility—perfect for when falling down outside Hyde.

Honorable mentions to:
Hoop earrings (still big—literally), neon jeans, leopard prints and Fergie’s GreyAnt suspender jeans.
