If Marilyn Monroe were alive today, it’s highly likely that after taking one look at a Birkin, she’d be changing her tune from “Diamond’s Are A Girl’s Best Friend” to “Mama’s Got A Brand New Bag.” Once considered an accessory, both hand and shoulder bags have now become just as important a component to an outfit—and as equally expensive—as what a woman wears. For an item so fashionable to also be so functional is…well…a style anomaly. Marilyn may have proclaimed diamonds the apex of glamour in her day, but in our humble opinion—whether it is of the tote, purse or messenger variety—bags are the best kind of friend a girl should always have by her side.
