Vintage clothing is around every corner in Los Angeles, but if sifting through another pile of moth-eaten frocks to find the perfect “new” threads doesn’t tickle your fashion funny bone, then you’re in luck. Enter Shareen Vintage.

Any woman (sorry guys, men are prohibited from entering) who has an appreciation for style and enjoys spending hours riffling through clothes should immediately trek to the tucked-away warehouse near downtown. Leave your insecurities at the door—the warehouse lacks a changing room, but stripping down to your skivvies is a small sacrifice compared to the deals you will inevitably find. Shareen’s giant vintage showroom is chock-full of goodies from nearly every era. Racks upon racks of hand-selected items line the walls of this concrete paradise. Although some mild digging is required, gems like ’60s minis and ’70s flower-child gowns can be found. And sprinkled among the Pucci lookalikes are whimsical costumes. The themed parties that you have been dreading instantly become exciting when you discover a new obsession with the perfect St. Patty’s day lederhosen, or a rad ’80s sequined blazer. And the fun doesn’t stop at apparel. Suede boots, patent-leather belts and Jacqueline Kennedy–esque pillbox hats are strewn around the showroom as well.

Scouring vintage finds is not the only thing that Shareen is known for around L.A. She designs her own high-end line that is sold in such boutiques as Barneys in Beverly Hills, but her talents don’t stop there. The minute the warehouse opens every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday, Shareen offers her personal styling service to every fashionista who stops by. Her signature move is to take the quirky ensemble a customer tries on, which may not be the most becoming outfit, turn it backwards, undo a few buttons, add a belt in just the right place and… ta-da, a figure-flattering look.

Since the warehouse is only open three days a week, the best time to go is Wednesday so that the fresh inventory has not been picked over. And the best part of Shareen Vintage? Almost every item is priced between $30 and $40. Now that’s worth taking the day off!
