While the worthy Hollywood Bowl gets all of the hype and hoopla as LA's premier outdoor venue for memorable summer concert experiences, the relatively intimate (5700 seats) Greek gives it a run for the top spot. Set in lush, tree-enclosed canyon in Griffith Park, the Greek is absolutely amazing, from the organic feeling of being in the woods to the incredible bands they regularly book: Arcade Fire, White Stripes, The Strokes and Radiohead have all provided the soundtrack to a stellar night out. Given the high-profile bookings, prepare to run into all nature of celebrities (Janice Dickenson and Slash were spotted at the summer 2006 Radiohead show). Don't hesitate to check out a gig at the Greek. Definitely one of LA's best places to see a concert. Bring a jacket, though —  it gets chilly up on the hill after dark.

Getting There

Parking:
On Site. It's stacked parking up on the hill, which can suck. We recommend embracing the post-show chaos and turning it into a tailgate party until the cars start moving. Hardcore concert goers will park at the bottom of the hill and walk, but that's only for the most robust. It's a haul, yo.
