Went Hollywood for: Uecker was a frequent guest on “The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson" and a network baseball commentator for two decades, but he is probably best known for his turn as a baseball announcer in “Major League” and best loved for his patriarchal role in “Mr. Belvedere,” where he played a sportswriter. Range ain’t his thing, apparently.
