When an entire season of your show takes place over the course of just one day, a certain amount of flashing forward is necessary to give your cast a break. Seven days in a row of the action “24” sees would probably kill a man better than Jack Bauer, so that’s why each season picks up after a jump of as many as three years. But forward isn’t the only place “24” is headed. The show is planning a two-hour prequel to set up the events of 2009’s season seven.
