Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the blogosphere, Serena, Blair and their impossibly good looking posse are back.

Season two of "Gossip Girl" kicks off with everyone's favorite sexed-up rich kids taking in the last days of a breezy summer at the Hamptons. But, as omniscient narrator Kristen Bell puts it, "Tans fade, highlights go dark and we all get sick of sand in our shoes." (Man, we wish Kristen Bell were narrating our lives!)

Who's that: Blake Lively anchors the show as the somewhat aimless, conflicted Serena van der Woodsen, while Leighton Meester hams it up as the it's-so-good-to-be-bad Blair Waldorf. But it's the guys (Chase Crawford as hunky Nate, Ed Westwick as hunky/creepy Chuck) who finally get their time to shine in the Hamptons sun in season two.

Buzzed about: In recent weeks, "Gossip Girl"'s racy ad campaign has been getting more attention than the show itself. But is the show finally beginning to match its controversial billboards? Exhibit A: The season premiere kicks off with heavy petting in a car, topless, gallavanting girls on the beach (surrounding Chuck, natch)—and a sexcapade between a young man and a married Duchess.

The "ooh" factor: Sexy, troubled girls in Marc Jacobs cycling through hunky, troubled guys in Ralph Lauren. What's not to like?

The "eh" factor: Question: How many seasons did we have to wait until Donna Martin finally did the horizotal mambo on "90210"? Answer: Seven! But in the "Gossip Girl" universe, where sex is treated like a long, sweaty handshake, something gets lost in all the over-the-top spit-swapping.

The verdict: "Gossip Girl" is still as silly, overwrought and preposterous as ever. And it's also still a whole lot of fun.

The season premiere was great, except, where were some top characters?? Vanessa? Lily?
