An Evening on the Eastside

Bars and restaurants you should check out if you're east of La Brea

    Gingergrass

    Gingergrass - 4

2396 Glendale Blvd. - Los Angeles (Silver Lake)

The service can be dicey, but the food is out of this world. This place is perfect to take the 'rents or to go out on a date. Personal favorites include: the pork sandwich, summer rolls, pork chops and the shaking beef.

    4100 Bar

    4100 Bar - 5

4100 W. Sunset Blvd. - Los Angeles (Silver Lake)

If you're looking for a laid back bar with decent beer prices and a killer jukebox, then this place is for you. Some nights you can catch Keifer Sutherland throwing back a couple brewskies, as well as the Tamale Man selling selling delicious treats.

    Silverlake Wine

    Silverlake Wine - 0

2395 Glendale Blvd. - Los Angeles (Silver Lake)

Silverlake Wine is the ONLY place I go to buy wine. The always friendly staff and enormous inventory makes it the ideal place to learn about and purchase vino. On Monday nights, they have tastings where they serve three distinctly different bottles of wine paired with tasty cheese from the Cheese Store.

    El Conquistador

    El Conquistador - 3

3701 W. Sunset Blvd. - Los Angeles (Silver Lake)

El Conq is the wildest restaurant on the Eastside. Every holiday, they decorate the interior with streamers, pictures, etc. Happy hour is until 6:30 PM, margs are $1 off and you get free appetizers!

    Short Stop

    Short Stop - 5

1455 Sunset Blvd. - Echo Park (Angelino Heights)

Don't hit up the Short Stop late on a Friday or Saturday evening. You'll be greeted with a very loooong line. And for good reason! Angelenos head to this bar for cheap beers, good music and a super fun crowd. I've never been disappointed with an evening spent at the Short Stop.

Need a night out on the town? Here are my favorite spots around Venice to grab dinner, a drink, and maybe even some dancing.
