Asanebo, which translates to late riser, was honored with one star in the premiere Los Angeles edition of the Michelin Guide and serves Japanese pub food in a no-frills setting. The menu is authentic—free from novelty rolls like shrimp or salmon—and the specialty of the house is the sashimi. It may not be financially responsible, but omakase is compulsory.
Available across three price tiers, the meal is a multi-course kaiseki
showcase of traditional sashimi, sushi and cooked Japanese elaborations.
